When I batch renamed all my previous photos, and continue to do when downloading new photos, I made sure I set the renaming app to use the correct date from several that are found in the EXIF. I know that when I view the pictures with FSViewer, the date in the bottom left corner that is pulled from the JPG is not the correct one.Īnd then if I try to rename the file with a program like NAMEXIF or Bulk Rename Utility, it pulls that incorrect name out of the JPG to use at the beginning of the filename.īut I will try Exiftool to look at all the DATE+TIME inside the EXIF of the JPG. When I decided this naming system, I used IrfanView's batch rename to add the date and camera brand/model from the EXIF to about 20,000 files, and continue doing this with new files using Downloader Pro. I also prefix my files with the original date shot (along with camera brand and model) copied from the EXIF, but that process doesn't remove the date from the EXIF. I am thinking I want to find a program / way to take that DATE+TIME at the beginning of the filename and put that back into the EXIF of the JPG. That way, if I touched it with an editing program and the program messed up the EXIF, at least the filename would still have the correct DATE+TIME.īut now that I am getting closer to getting caught up and cleaned up. The one thing I noticed is that when I took the shots, most of the years I took the time to have a program pull out the DATE+TIME from the EXIF of the JPG file and put that at the front of the filename. I am cleaning up my personal digital family photo album and I am actually starting to make some progress. I am looking for a program that could read the filename of my JPG files, extract the DATE+TIME that is encoded into the filename and then inject that back into the EXIF of the JPG file.
